Lifestyle portrait sessions are fun, they’re about you, your world, the things you love to do and the people you love the most.

I love in home sessions. It is so lovely to go to a beautiful location to shoot, but being in your own space and being relaxed is also a beautiful thing. If you are looking at booking in a newborn lifestyle session I highly recommend doing this in your home.

Babies tend to get very grisly and uncomfortable when they are out in the open and away from their familiar surroundings. I also recommend booking in newborns, babies and young children in for morning sessions as things tend to go south very quickly for little people after 4pm.

What do we wear to our session?

I always tell people to wear whatever they feel comfortable and beautiful in. As far as colours and patterns go it is best to go with neutral colours, especially for newborn sessions and maternity sessions. Bright colours and bold patterns will make an image very busy and you want the focus to be on your beautiful pregnant belly or your gorgeous new babies face.

What time of day is best to organise our session?

Like I said above, with babies and young children it is best to organise a session for early morning. The timing of this also will depend on what time of year it is and wether or not we are in daylight savings time, but generally before 8.30am if we are outside and in home sessions usually around 10-11 am.

For spring and summer sessions late afternoon and early evening are the best times to shoot. you get beautiful golden light late in the afternoon and this is often the very sought after light photographers are always chasing. It is such a beautiful time of day.

How long do the shoots last for?

I have two options for the length of a lifestyle session. My basic package includes a 1 hr session which is recommended for maternity and family sessions. But I recommend for newborn session to at least allow for 2 hrs. This extra time is a must with babies. They can be super unpredictable and settling, feeding and changing all takes time, I will usually include these moments in your session as well, it can be really beautiful to look back on these little everyday things that don’t last forever.

I can also add extra hrs to your package for maternity and family sessions if you wish to have a longer session.

How do we book?

Fill out the form on my contact page and I will give you some added information and work out a date and time that will suit you. I then take retainer fee of 50% of the package price that you choose at the time of booking to secure your session date. This retainer fee is non refundable but the date can be transferred if for some reason we need to re-schedule.

How long will it take to get our images sent?

I give you a sneak peek of a few images a day or 2 after your session and you can expect the rest of your images within 2-4 weeks depending on the time of year and how busy I am.
